Prof. Wang Xinrong is a master supervisor with a doctor degree and his research field is the livestock reproductive physiology. In 1997, he graduated from Gansu Agricultural University in animal science. During Sept. 2014 to Sept. 2015, he had been in Utah State University of the United Sates for visiting study.
Since 2005, he has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in the College of Animal Science and Technology, Gansu Agricultural University. He was promoted to associate professor in 2012 and promoted to professor in 2018. He has lectured on the undergraduate courses "Animal Reproduction", "Animal Reproduction Experiment", "Specialized English" and the postgraduates course "Principles and Techniques of Animal Reproduction". Since 2005, he has won some honors such as the “Top ten outstanding award in teaching competition of Gansu Agricultural University”, “Outstanding individual in celebrating the 70th anniversary of Gansu Agricultural University”, and “Outstanding instructor in national professional skill competition in animal science for college students”. In 2018, he won “the first prize of micro-lecture competition of Gansu Agricultural University”. In 2018, the course “Animal Reproduction” was approved as an excellent resource sharing course in Gansu Province. In 2019, the course “Animal Reproduction” was approved as the blended demonstration courses in the school.
Since 2016, he has lectured on the undergraduate course “Specialized English in Animal Science”, and adopted bilingual teaching strategy during teaching. After almost five-year teaching practice, he has accumulated certain experience in bilingual teaching methods and professional knowledge integration; Since 2017, the postgraduates’ compulsory course “Principles and Techniques of Animal Reproduction" taught by him has been also taught in both Chinese and English. During the course, he has practiced not only relevant specialized English terminology, but also demonstrated the basic contents of animal reproduction principles and techniques. Through learning, students have expanded not only their professional knowledge, but also acquired a certain degree of specialized English knowledge, which is very helpful to the professional knowledge learning and the improvement of English writing ability. In 2017, during the teaching of the doctoral course “New Technology Advancements and Animal Reproduction Research”, bilingual teaching was also adopted. At the same time, the Rainclass APP has been introduced in the teaching process, and the blended teaching mode has been applied in teaching practice, and a good teaching effect has been received.
Based on the present foundation of bilingual teaching, in 2018, we applied for the project of construction of the international student course “Gametes and Embryo Engineering in Animals”, and has begun drafting and compiling teaching documents, translating teaching materials and handouts, and making teaching videos during the course of bilingual teaching for graduate students. Additionally, the bilingual course website opened for international students currently have been performed the general frame, and it is planned to be officially opened in the spring semester of 2021.
